Isera & Scaldis Sugar, more commonly known as ISCAL Sugar is owned by the Groupe Sucrier (70%), which is in turn owned (100%) by the Société Financière des Sucres, a holding company of the family Lippens.
The House of Lippens has been a prominent actor in the Belgian economical and political world since the 18th century, recently focussed on real estate and general financial holdings.
This specific participation in sugar production evolved from previous colonial interests of the family Lippens in Belgian Congo, something that is still evident in the subsidiaries of the holding group based in Congo.
